“In the grand scheme of things, money’s not that important. It’s significant only to the extent that it allows you to enjoy what is important to you. And not worrying about your finances is critical to having a life that excites you, nurtures those you love, and fulfills your highest aspirations.”
—Bill Bachrach—Values-Based Financial Planning: The Art of Creating an Inspiring Financial Strategy
You visit doctors for medical issues, trust your mechanic to fix your car, may hire a gardener and handyman, and wouldn’t dream of cutting and coloring your own hair. Congratulations! You are a delegator. You have better things to do with your life than worry over details that can be handled by others.
When it comes to financial health and well-being, the delegator ranks as the top personality type to utilize the services of a Trusted Advisor™. The do-it-yourself-ers study all the financial magazines, read the Wall Street Journal, and are glued to the financial news shows on radio and television. They do independent research and make their own decisions on the basis of what they find out. Others are collaborators: they do most of their own research and make their own decisions, although they’re willing to get input from other people and perhaps have someone else validate their decisions.
A delegator says, “I’m not interested in learning about and tracking my investments. If I can delegate the financial part of my life, then I can spend my time doing other things that are more fun, more important to me.”
I am a Financial Life Coach and Trusted Advisor™ who’s been providing overall management of financial affairs and competent advice for over two decades. I keep my eye fastened on the financial needs of those who are happy to delegate that responsibility to me. And as a Life Coach, as well as a Trusted Advisor™, Certified Financial Planner Practitioner, and CPA, I work with the whole client as a unique individual, not just with the financial aspects.
Many people have presented to me their definition of Freedom as having the means, the time, and the resources to do what you want to do when you want to do it. First, that means identifying what it is that you really want. I help you define what Freedom means to you and, then, periodically, we get together to make sure you’re still well on your way to attaining it. If you are on track, fantastic! If you’re not, I can help you make minor course corrections now, so that you can still attain your goals without having to make drastic sacrifices in the crucial years ahead. Some people call me a Certified Financial Planner®. But, what that really means is: I coach Freedom. I help you get where you want to be.
What I do for each of my select list of clients changes person by person, depending on individual needs and desires. Naturally, all of my clients benefit from investment advice and tax preparation that is included in a single, annual fee that usually comes directly from their investment accounts, so that, in most cases, they never have to write me a check.
If you have assets and investments totaling $250,000 or more (not including your home, which is in a category of its own), you probably want and need ethical, professional assistance in managing your wealth and assets. And, you certainly want to pay only your share of taxes under the law…nothing more, nothing less.
Some people call this Values-Based Financial Planning and Management. But, I simply call it…Freedom.
